COL (Ret) John Morrice is the ex-President of the of the SAF Veteran League. In 1954, he joined the Cadet Corps of the Singapore Volunteer Corps (SVC). In 1957, he joined the 1st Singapore Infantry Regiment (1 SIR) which was under the command of the Singapore Military Forces (SMF). He participated in the Indonesia Confrontation in 1963 and 1964 when 1 SIR was re-organised as Malaysia Infantry Regiment after the merger of Singapore and Malaysia. He was awarded the Uniformed Services Malaysia medal (to commemorate the merger with Malaya) and the British General Services Medal (GSM), bar Malaya. In 1968, LTC John Morrice was appointed Commanding Officer of 1 SIR. He retired from the SAF in 1983. In addition to the various long service medals, he was also awarded The Public Administration Medal (Silver).
